Another facebook campaign caught my attention and it's like this: Change your facebook profile picture to a cartoon from your childhood and invite your friends to do the same. Until Monday there should be no human faces on Facebook, but an invasion of memories. This is for awareness of violence against children.
It sounds good and I really thought of any cartoon character that will suit this campaign. Upon thinking, the first thing that comes to my mind is Cinderella. I really love the story of that disney princess and I am a fan of it during my childhood. But then again, there is something in me which tells me to change that. Again, I read the campaign and thought of changing Cinderella to Princess Sarah. Why? Because I think I love her more than any other princesses. Her story cannot be compared to any other story. Aside from that, there are some things in Princess Sarah that I think must be possessed by all of us, PURE HEART and TRUE KINDNESS.
For those who don't know Princess Sarah, here is a brief summary of her story:
Princess Sarah tells the story of Sarah Crewe, a young daughter of a wealthy English family in India, who starts attending an all-girl's seminary selection boarding school in London, where she excels in her studies and is loved deeply by many of her friends and classmates. However, tragedy soon strikes when Sarah's father passes away and her family goes bankrupt, leaving her to be a poor orphan. The school's headmistress, Miss Minchin, takes advantage of this situation and makes her a maid in the school, trying hard to make her life as miserable as possible. However, Sarah, with the help of her friends, perseveres and tries to endure all her hardships until redemption comes at last.
Going back, this campaign is for awareness of human violence against children has to say a lot. It is not just a mere changing of profile picture but also letting the whole facebook community to know what character each of us must portray in our life to be a good example to children. Adults must show care and love to those little children who are just starting their lives.
Let us help children in our society to grow with goodness in our hearts. Let us show them that the world is a good place to stay at by letting them see the goodness in us, not violence. Teach them to be courteous, kind and let them know how to have a good heart. Princess Sarah is one good example. I hope that children of today could watch her beautiful story because they will surely gain a lot from it.
Just like Princess Sarah, in order for us to teach children to be good, each of us must first possess her character. Let us have a pure heart and true kindness because that is what we need in order for this life to be beautiful for the next generation.
